Re: We just got the real Xband modem to connect...
i wouldn't bother buying games yet. No telling when the server software will be up and running tbh. As for game patches.. I'm not going to spoil and say what exists. Best advice i can give you, don't hold your breath on the server just yet. Its a large undertaking and takes time and i don't know how...

Re: We just got the real Xband modem to connect...
Very interesting. Looks like the use of a true land-line phone on the first generation XBAND modems is no longer required. Now all we need is a server so matches can be made, correct? Obviously that's easier said than done, however I would say the fact that the XBAND modem has been faked out into m...

Re: We just got the real Xband modem to connect...
So, I guess we havnt updated here much about any progress we've made. Please keep in mind everyone on the revival team has a full time job and other obligations that keep us from working on the project constantly. It is still a priority when we have the time though. That being said, we have managed ...

Re: Not XBAND, Sega Channel.
I used this device when it was active. Cousin of mine worked for a cable company at the time and had it Installed for his younger brother. Is was like on demand before on demand. Basically the menu system was self explanatory. it let you select games that were then downloaded over cable and took a f...

Re: Saturn Xband Direct-Dial
since the Japanese xband used a server like the genesis and snes I'm willing to bet it's almost the exact same setup. once the genesis and snes versions are figured out the Saturn may follow suit indirectly just by getting the original stuff working.

Re: We just got the real Xband modem to connect...
Hmmm. Really wish we could figure out how to get the japanese saturn xband modem to direct dial. Have you tried dumping data from tge japanese modem? So if its anything like the snes/genesis version it most likely needs a "dial script" to be obtained from the xband server so it knows what...

Re: Xband Test Results
surprised you got ahold of him if that is legit. Kon told me last it was on a computer in storage and his buddy who had the storage unit was hard to get ahold of. this was years ago. The xband modem is cool, but archaic at this point and more trouble to get working with bits and pieces and not full ...

Re: We just got the real Xband modem to connect...
That's nothing new. I've been able to get the genesis xband to do the same thing. it's just dumping info and waiting for the server to respond. no real modification is needed to make this happen other than a phone line simulator and a terminal on the other end. if you can get it to actually send bac...

Re: Xband Test Results
To clear the air on this Rush. I frequently talk to alot of the old catapult crew to this day. Of those people no one seems upset about the free'd project. Alot of the ex-catapult engineers are proud of what they did, and want to see it come to fruition. Im speaking about Kon, he specifically told ...

Re: Xband Test Results
Its great that you're interested in this, however i dont think reviving the xband modem is going to be easy. Even if it did work you would have the issue of people not having land-lines. I extensively hounded (for lack of better words) the original developers and spoke with them about whatever sourc...

Re: Japanese Netlink (Xband modem)??
Way to rev a necro thread. I happend to get some xband saturn source snippets. Id have to dig around on my backup drives to see if i still have it now, but warp hit the nail on the head. We had a guy who basically is just another ux designer patching emulators and graphics together spew everything o...

Re: Why this might finally be our year! Xband 3
Great you guys are working on this but..... others have gone down this path already and made actual hardware that works with the snes and will do basically what xband did. check out the Snesoip project for instance... I hear they have ways to actually feed info from patched roms out over the network...

Re: Snesoip (New xband?!)
We`ve already tested with mario kart and it works fine. Its all a matter if you want to do it on real hardware or not. Xband was literally the same method but had additional hardware to access to the system data lines to manipulate like a game genie would. Games with a bunch of random events wont wo...
