Re: Does ANYONE have the planetweb 4.035 beta browser
Yeah, that gets to be a pain. Let me look through the files and see what I have in the next few days.

Re: Netlink Match!
The only way to guarantee a decent connection is through an analog phone line. If it's digital, a few members here have tried and had some wildly varying results, but I think overall, digital is essentially useless for NetLink. I'm actually not sure how my line will fare, since it's not clear to me ...

Re: Netlink Match!
I think I could play soon, either this weekend or next. Mind you, I haven't played at my current place, and while I have a phone line, it is carried over Fiber... so I am not sure how the lag will be. It should be enough to at least confirm your NetLink is working. If not this weekend, next weekend ...

Re: Does ANYONE have the planetweb 4.035 beta browser
The PlanetWeb browser was actually capable of downloading an upgrade and running it from memory (but only for the length of time that the Saturn was on). I remember reading a page describing how to serve the upgrade in a fashion that the Saturn will recognize. Now that I think of it, it may have bee...

Re: 2013
It's hard to convince buddies to get NetLinks. I pushed my best friend to get one about 6 years ago, and came close, but he ultimately decided not to. It's a tough sell to make when the other person has never owned a Saturn.

Haha yes, not intentional, but it's been that way since the first day, and I've kept it that way. Fitting because I love unix-type systems.

Re: Does ANYONE have the planetweb 4.035 beta browser
I may have this laying around. I will check for it soon. I know I do have some of the actual upgrade files, which have the extension ".pw." I'm not sure what the mechanism is for delivering these upgrade files to the Saturn, it may have something to do with the content type specified by th...

Revived Servers
A relatively recent phenomenon in gaming is the loss of server functionality for many games, especially as consoles like the PS2 and original Xbox have been phased out. Which online games have you played that no longer function online in any capacity? To counter this phenomenon, some gamers have hop...

Re: 2013
Happy New Year!
It's so hard to believe that this site is now over six years old. My hope for 2013 is that more people participate and make this a more active community. I think it's time that the NetLink had a proper website, too. I can't say when that will happen, but I would like to do it.

Re: Netlink Match!
Welcome to the forum! I hope you decide to stick around here and help keep this place active. To answer your questions, your understanding is completely correct: No need to have any dial-up internet to play the games. However, it may be necessary to turn off the DSL modem while attempting to play a ...

Sandy (and Halloween!)
I hope everyone in the Eastern US is prepared for the storm today and tomorrow. I live on Long Island, and winds and rain are picking up. Stay safe guys.
By the way, anyone wearing a costume this year?

Re: Xband Former Players Thread
Welcome to the board! I remember the phone calls, too. I think it's going to be hard for newer gamers to believe that back in the day, after an "online" game, you could pick up the phone and chat up your opponent.

Re: Just thought I'd drop by
Good to see you. I guess the problem with a site dedicated to older consoles, is that at some point, there's no longer a lot that's "new" to talk about.

Re: any luck with the official xband modems?
I have hope that one day the server software will be made available. I don't know how soon that will be, but there will be a day when that code isn't useful for current applications anymore, and hopefully it will be released for us to use. Until then, as Warp said, it's nearly impossible to reverse ...

Re: TES V Skyrim, anyone else get it
I know I'll end up with this game at some point, but right now I'm really into BF3. I've enjoyed many games in the BF series since BF1942 came out. BF3 is no exception.
