NetLink Mouse, is it good for anything besides NetLinking?

Post by Scooter »

I recently bought a brand new NetLink mouse for a few bucks. Good timing as I found that my NetLink will no longer work with my particular ISP. Oh well!

Does the mouse work with any Saturn games?

Yes.

The only one I know of off the top of my head is the Japanese game Policenauts. I'll see if I can't dig up a list.

Edit:

Here's a couple I've found, although I haven't been able to find an actual list. I can't guarantee that all of these will work, but I know there are more out there that will.
Sakura Taisen 1 & 2 (Japanese)

Space Harrier
Policenauts (Japanese)
Heir of Zendor
I have my Saturns, I have some of my games, I have a RasPi. Gotta put all this stuff together!

you would think it would work with pc port games like Command & Conquer or Warcraft II, but i'm not sure to be honest.

I saw speculation about those, but the general feel was "Probably not."

It works with all games, really, but the only ones it is actually practical with are the ones that require cursor-like movement. I've played it with some shooters like Virtua Cop before, and it works okay. More of a novelty thing than actually something worth adopting.

I've never tried it with Myst, but I imagine it's the same thing. The mouse keys are just A, B and C on the standard control pad. There aren't buttons for the three others because, well, that would be redundant for surfing the net (especially at a time when who buttons on a PC mouse was already pushing it) and two, more importantly, because the mouse is essentially a carbon copy of the Mega Drive (Genesis) mouse released over in Japan.
