I want them too, but never got them. I know at least one person on this site has them, but as I recall, they're not on very much, and I don't remember exactly who it was. I thought Rogue might have them as well...

The beta adds new features, yes, but it won't work miracles. Most sites these days utilize technologies that were rare back when the browser was still being developed.

I may have this laying around. I will check for it soon. I know I do have some of the actual upgrade files, which have the extension ".pw." I'm not sure what the mechanism is for delivering these upgrade files to the Saturn, it may have something to do with the content type specified by the server.

Preferrably a burnable ISO or bin/cue or w/e is preferred... I don't really know how to go about that otherwise!

The PlanetWeb browser was actually capable of downloading an upgrade and running it from memory (but only for the length of time that the Saturn was on). I remember reading a page describing how to serve the upgrade in a fashion that the Saturn will recognize. Now that I think of it, it may have been as simple as specifying a certain kind of mimetype.

Yeah, as neat as that is, I'd rather opt for the convenience of having the last version on disc so I didn't need to run/download it every time.

Yeah, that gets to be a pain. Let me look through the files and see what I have in the next few days.

If you find them, let me know, too. I'd like to have them, even if I can't access my Saturn while I'm at school.

Hi there guys, just noticed this thread!

I have the 4.035 beta browser that consists of Planetweb 3.0 with the 4.035 update integrated into it, here's the readme:

Code: Select all

  +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+

Sega Saturn Net Link Browser 4.035 Beta

     Date : March 4th, 2002 Format : ISO + MP3
Filename : pweb4.rar Mb / Rars : 5 Mb / 1 Rar

  +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+

A bootable, updated version of the Planetweb browser for Netlink.
This version is based on the version 3.0 CD, incorporating the
4.035 update file. The original test copies used version 2.0 but
the fonts look better on this one. 4 new splash screens from the
Dreamcast browser are included, but one old screen remains. CD
covers should be included with the archive, not actual size, so
use a CD cover printing utility.

Features of the 4.x Browser :
- Frames
- New IRC commands
- Support for some progressive JPEGs
- Auto-repeat for hand controller functions
- Support for embedded .wav and .aif sounds
- New keyboard shortcuts
- Several bug fixes

Someone else just hosted it a few weeks ago... but I wouldn't complain about having a second copy of the file, especially if it's different.
