Phantasy Star Online server termination set for 31st Mar 07

Post by segadreamcaster »

Hi all,

Yeah, Sadly PSO will be officially taken offline for both the Dreamcast and the Gamecube on the 31st of March, here is the official news post:

http://pso.dricas.ne.jp/pso_dricas.html

There is however some good news, as many of you know, it is possible to play online via Private servers, this will still be possible :), but annoyingly there is a little bit of bad news mixed with the good here, only V1 of the US NTSC versions will be playable on the private servers after the official shutdown, whilst neither of the Japanese versions will be capable of online play :( Both versions (PSO V1&2) of the EU PAL releases however, will however remain fully compatible with the private servers :)

The explanation for this is that the US V2 and both Japanese versions need the Dricas hunters licence authetication system in order to proceed to the server, which will be taken offline with the servers :( and sadly there is no way to reproduce them at this time :(

So basically, if you want to play/continue to play PSO on the Dreamcast, you will need to own either a US v1 or EU PAL versions. With the EU PAL V2 being the only version 2 option available.

Cheers, Craig

Yeah the news has been about for a while, but havent been here since it broke and nobody had mentioned it, so thought I might as well, especially as the version information is not widely known at this stage.

But yeah, at least we can still play...yipee :)
