Your favorite Dreamcast game

Post by Xranger60 »

There were many games that we'll always remember from our Dreamcast. DC gave us lots of games with some great memories. Mine is Grandia II.
Grandia II was a great RPG, one of my all time favorites, and probably the game I put the most time into on the Dreamcast. I haven't spent the time on RPG's, but Grandia was one game that left me hooked until the end, and a game that I will definitely go back to at some point.

What's yours?
Willing to play Bomberman, Duke Nukem 3d, Virtual On, Sega Rally. Send me a PM.

Most definatelly shenmue...Shenmue is the best game for any platform ever...period...obviously just my opinion :)

I actually prefer shenmue to shenmue 2 which seems to be fairly unusual...but hey I think its better...deeper somehow.

My top 10 is probably as follows:

1. Shenmue
2. Shenmue 2
3. Skies Of Arcadia
4. Sonic Adventure
5. Dragons Blood
6. Mortal kombat Gold (so may people hate this version, I love it)
7. Phantasy Star online...simpy for online play
8. Maximum Pool...excellent Pool/snooker game
9. Quake 3 Arena
10. Crazy Taxi

Good calls on Shenmue & Grandia (favorite battle system in an RPG). For me the Dreamcast is all about:

Virtual On (suprise!) - Fast & fluid 60fps mecha action. At first it seems all too hard, but give it time and practice and when the depth and brilliance of the gameplay finally hits you...everything just clicks. It's all about Apharmd B...

Illbleed - First time I played this I was alone in the dark (heh) on a rainy night at about 1 am. Not since the SNES Clocktower has a game creeped me out this much. I totally repsect the programmers for trying something different with this title.

Outtrigger - Am2 produced a 1st/3rd person shooter that is not ashamed of it's arcade roots. This game doesn't pretend to be deep, but it's impossible to deny how fun it was online or how fun it still is splitscreen.

PSO - Excellent game if you can get a legit party.

man, i gotta cut down on my post size ... :P

Indeed Shenmue as well, and I prefer the first shenmue too. It just had that feeling that you were playing something awesome, that you really were in another world.

Confidential mission was another good one, nicely polished shooter on rails. Grandia definitely had a great storyline and innovative battle system. Outrigger I never got to play, but I know I will someday.

LoL, yup, TeamAwesome, those are very good games too. Power Stone is actually coming to the PSP as well. Of course the Gamecube got the Sonic Adventure series, which got scored very low by the gaming press, but if you've never played it before and don't have a dreamcast, get those. The low ratings mostly came from the fact that nothing was changed.

The final attacks in Tech Romancer will make you go blind with all the crazy speedlines and flashes, ah...good stuff.

Project Justice is a nice game also.

Hands down, it's Shenmue I (even over Shenmue II).
That first time that I played it, that first time I stepped into the world of Yokosuka, the shoes of Ryo Hazuki, it was pure magic. I could his agony, his sorrow as he witnessed his father murdered so easily by complete strangers. I could feel every step he took in Japan. Pure magic. I felt his anger and pain and sadness the last time he looked out at Master Chen, saw Guizhang, who almost died to save him, remember his last moments with Nozomi Harasaki, Fukuhara, and Ine - san.

Wonderful. For the first time ever, I felt like I was truly in an alternate world. This was my second home (until I travelled to China, of course :P ). Easily SEGA's best game ever, no, the best game of ALL TIME.
