Zip Drive for Dreamcast! =O

Post by Rogue »

On an eBay auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0163670619

"The Zip Drive extension box was designed for the Sega Dreamcast. There is a physical connection that joins the setup game console with the extension box. This was the only prototype in the world. It never made it to manufacturing since Sega had cancelled their hardware gaming console business plans The original purpose of the extension box was to save game scores to the Zip media and load additional players characters into the Dreamcast games. This is a rare collectible item for the serious gamer connoisseur."

Wow, that's a find alright! I bet that will sell, for sure. It's too complete and perfect to be bogus. Too bad it doesn't work like a regular VMU cartridge to save games...imagine the kind of saves you could have! 8)
That's fly.

Wow, I never knew a working prototype existed! I thought it was like the DC DVD player (i.e. a mockup, doesn't really work). I wonder if you could save emulators and homebrew games on the disc and play them using that.
...I'll think of one later, read something else.
