I need help getting a Sega Saturn I bought off ebay working. CD's won't sit right and it doesn't spin the discs at all when I put them in. Also, the red acess light blinks constantly. Well, I guess thats what I get for $12...

Well...
As far as I know, the Saturn is very tough...
It can be the Optical Unit.
There's an orange screw called "trimpot", inside the Unit. Turning it you can adjust the power sent to the Optical Unit, so, if the Saturn can't read CDs, you just rise the power and it will work again. In the minimum position, the CDs don't even start spinning. But you have to adjust sligtly, or the life of the lens will decrease very fast. Just some degrees, test, more degrees if needed, test...
This usually gives the Saturn more weeks, maybe months of life.
But you said the CDs "won't sit right". What that means? Cause if the clamp is damaged, you'll have to change it. Or repair it...
Try to pass more information about the problem. =)
And sorry about the engRish... XD

Hey Nick, after looking at your picture, I took a look at my own unit. The circular black part around the spinner is definitely pushed down for some reason, and that's what's causing your cd's not to sit right. Some damage to the drive definitely occurred.
Willing to play Bomberman, Duke Nukem 3d, Virtual On, Sega Rally. Send me a PM.
I had a feeling that was the problem. I took it in with me to school and had my computer maitnance teacher take a look, and he said the motor was completely dead. Someone in my class heard and said he would sell me a model 2 with all cables and a controller for $10 I just relisted that one on ebay.

Wow. It's stories like that that have convinced me that going local is the way to go. I'm convinced there are huge amounts of Saturns sitting around in closets, with people that would sell them for much less for what they are on ebay.

Yeah, people wanna get rid of them...
But if you want, maybe you can find a new Optical unit, complete and brand new. Ready to use. Search in your city.
Here in Brazil is easy to find and they're cheap too.
The name is "JVC Optima 6S".
