Saturn Vs. Playstation

I need some help finding a list of all the games that Came out for both the saturn and the playstation. I.E. > resident evil, Destruction derby, wipeout etc... iv'e looked all over the net but can't find one. any pointers???

I'm trying to do a full comparison of all the games that were released on both consoles. Trying to determin which/how many are better or worse on saturn.

so far:
Resident evil> Better on PSX
Destruction derby> better on Saturn
Gex> better on Saturn

DOOM - no personal experience but I've heard that the Saturn version was pretty bad. I really like my PS1 version.

Tomb Raider - I've played both, I don't see a whole lot of difference. The game play is exactly the same. The Saturn may have a *slight* graphical advantage.

Sorry I can't be much more help, I typically buy a game only once for one system or another and that's it. Tomb Raider is a rare exception just because I'm a huge fan of that game series.

Thanks rogue. I updated the list. I have to confirm Toshinden 2" Playstation = "Toshinden URA" Saturn and Is "Duke nukem 3D" the Same as "Duke Nukem" for PSX?

As far as I know the Playstation did not have an original version of Duke Nukem 3D. That was one thing for Saturn owners to brag about at the time.

Both Saturn and N64 owners got Duke Nukem 3D and Quake 1. Playstation fanboys got neither.

I also really admire what you are trying to do with the system comparisons. I wanted to do the same Saturn Vs. Playstation but it was quite a task. And while I owned most of the Saturn games I didn't own the Playstation counterpart for comparison. It's also hard to find good reviews to help document the differences. So I thought I would start with something simpler.

Right now I am documenting the differences between Sega Genesis and Sega CD versions of games. Then eventually the best versions of those games against their SNES counterpart. It's still quite a task but being a HUGE fan of 2D, it's more appealing to me and keeps me motivated.

I wish you the best with your Saturn vs. Playstation task, however, and if there is any way in which you need assistance let me know and i'll do what I can to help out.

but I'm not into Playstation... so I can't help that much. I really think there's Duke 3D for PS, because a friend told me about it years ago... weird.. o.O

Well, maybe I can contribute with Saturn x N64 comparisons. And later N64 x Dreamcast.

Duke Nukem 3D is on Playstation. In fact, it's more similar to the PC version than the Saturn version. The gameplay seems better than Saturn in fact (more levels, faster gameplay, more secrets, more voice, better music, etc) but the graphics are really bad/choppy and not in real 3D. The Psx version had direct link support, while the Saturn has Netlink. So it's quite hard to tell which one is better, but usualy I would prefer a smooth gameplay than a choppy one, plus it's easier to play over Netlink than direct link so you're more likely to enjoy multiplayer on the Saturn. Plus the Saturn has Death Tank Zwei, which is really fun. And as for the music you just need to rip your disk and change the tracks. That's what I did, so now I can play Duke Nukem 3D with Unreal Tournament's track

Yeah, adding onto what XL2k said, duke 3d on the Saturn used the engine from the makers of Quake/Powerslave which meant it ran extremely smooth, albeit somewhat less detailed. There are actually video comparisons of the two on Youtube, can't give a link right now but search for Duke Nukem Saturn or something of the like.

Btw, the whole track swapping thing sounds awesome, didn't know you could do that so easily.

Lol, yes, I did that already and did that for Quake too. Duke's sound-track didn't sound good enough for me, so I just changed it. I might up-load it someday (those who want it could pm me). UT's soundtrack really fits the mood of the game, better than the original boring sound-track (it really didn't sound right on the Redlight level, way too slow and boring)
Only problem was that my tracks didn't have high enough volume, so I just need to modify that when I have time.
And you could easily make your own tracks as well. Just use programs like Nero to rip your disk and separate the tracks from the game itself, (iso+wav) then just change the wav files, make a new cue-sheet (google for programs to do that) burn and voilà, new songs!
But if you have no mod-chip it's a bit annoying having to swap disks...

Thats awesome! I knew that you could change the Red Book audio tracks for Turbo Grafx games but I never realized you could do the same thing on the Saturn. Although the Turbo Grafx was region free for CD games so it was much easier to do.

I never realized that Duke Nukem 3D came out on the Playstation. After you all confirmed it, I did a little research and realized why I never knew. It's name was Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown.

I was always under the impression that it was a different game like DN: A Time to Kill and DN: Land of the Babes. Well... I guess you learn something new every day.
