model 1 sega saturn repair help

hi all,

i recently got a sega saturn that has a spindle that wont spin, and the spindle is wobbly.... this is the one that electrecuted me (that topic is in this part "sega saturn" of the site) also, the ribbon cable that connects the laser to the cd board caught fire after i tinkered around with the grey plastic screws on the left side of the cd board. any help?

Replace the ribbon cable. You should probably replace the whole drive assembly while you're at it. You have to use one from another model 1, though; the model 2's used a cable with a different number of contacts.

My advice: never play with the potentiometers unless you know exactly what you're doing - you were messing with voltages to very delicate equipment.
I have my Saturns, I have some of my games, I have a RasPi. Gotta put all this stuff together!
