Ive been considering a switch myself. Ive always just used the Action Replay cart without issue. However it would be nice to be able to leave my Sega Memory cart in the slot.
Not all the games use the Backup Memory "from inside" / "on the fly" / whatever.
If you really want to play japanese games, the best option is a japanese console. You'll eventually need the slot for a RAM cartridge...
