There are apparently only two of these floating around. A former Sega employee made a forum post and put up some pictures of what is now one of my most highly desired items. Would LOVE to own this. I'm always a little mad when items get added to my holy grail wishlist.

My holy grail wish list if you were wondering.

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Lucienne's Quest
Turbo Duo
PC Engline pac for my Laseractive
Hitachi HiSaturn Navi
Sega Pluto Prototype

"Mad" as in angry, or "mad" as in madness? =P

Makes sense to me that there would be two of the prototype - you need two for NetLink games. =P

Interestingly enough, this looks reasonably close to some images I saw while researching the Sega Black Belt, one of the competing prototype designs for the Sega Dreamcast.

Angry. :D I have wanting things I most likely will never have. The Turbo Duo is one of the more affordable items on that wishlist right now sadly.

This is unreal. Thanks for posting. Its amazing as deep and as a big of a Saturn fan as I am I had never heard of this... along with many others. Its amazing to see this after so many years.

Being only 2 out there its something we will never own unless this guy sells it for $$. I wonder what the price would fetch. Im thinking it could go into the 8000-10000 range and maybe more.

So cool. Looks like it works too.

Nice!

It really looks like a Saturn, with an expanded side.

But at that point, I suppose that computer modems was already at at least 33.3 kbps, so playing with 28.8 could seem a bit outdated for that time.

And the games could not be better developed too at that time.

Surely more Net Link games would be available. And one can consider that the Dreamcast launch could be done later, and of course be more powerful than the actual release, and Sega would be in the hardware market until now. Yeah...

I know the guy that owns it is in a different chapter of his life

BUT! How can you post the article without testing it! How hard is it to find a Saturn Game in Japan... I know you need a US game but even a US saturn crappie game has to be around somewhere. You gotta go all the way with testing it or sell it to a diehard collector :)

Ok Ive calmed down a little. Drank a glass a water.

Jerry I really hope he puts it on ebay like he said. I have a feeling he might listen to people and put it in an auction house or something.

What could this go for? 10k, 50k, 100k?

Personally Jerry Im willing to spend $5000 on this right now but I have a feeling Im not even close. Maybe $6000

Yeaaahhh... while it's extremely rare, I don't think we'll see anything in the double-digit k's... although I could be wrong. There are some crazy collectors out there.

All it takes is one industry person or celeb with money to make the price explode

Some guy just offered him 3000 in the comment section below the video.

I was surprised that no one made an offer before. Im still willing to go a little higher than that guy.
