i dont know about you guys, but reading about how great Xband was and all its features and wonderfullness, and then watching it crumble in a time where i didnt do anything but eat ice pops makes me kinda teary eyed... if that happened this day and age, i would try and prevent it!

Ah, Xband. I still remember seeing that message early in April in 1997. "The Xband network will be shutting down on April 30, 1997." It was a blow. It was known that there would be nothing like it for a very long time. Witness how any Xband site that is formed usually gains new users quickly. Maybe it's about time I create an Xband forum here for those people to reunite.

Yeah, looking at forums online, it's incredible how many XBAND users still remember the names of the people they played against. It must've really been sumthin' to make that kind of an impression.

I was pissed when Nationwide shut off. Instead of shutting off at the end of the day, they pulled the plug on it around noon. I had to work that day, and rushed home to get a few more games of SMK in, but to no avail. *blah*

I am thinking of adding an Xband forum for another reason now. There is a a small project going to try to revive the Xband. I might dedicate some resources to organizing this effort. More on this will come later.
