Saturn Xband Direct-Dial
I'm looking for someone with a little more Xband experience and Saturn knowledge than me to help me out. I've been experimenting with making the JP Saturn Xband titles direct dial with the Japanese modem. By swapping the JP Xband files with the US Netlink Xband files, I can get the game to boot into...

Re: Voip setup
Played a couple rounds of Sega Rally and Daytona last night via VOIP. My opponent recorded it: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=973#p8853

Re: Netlink games ingame web browser questions
Do you have a keyboard adapter? I'm guessing that if there's an unlock you probably have to hit a certain key.

Re: Japanese Netlink (Xband modem)??
A few of us have had success with connecting netlink games over VOIP and now I'm interested in the Japanese modem. If that can be made to direct dial, I would love to do some testing with that as well. Any luck finding the info rush?

Re: Sega Netlink is back!
Has anyone ever looked into replacing the Japanese Xband files with the US Netlink files to try to get a JP game to work with the Netlink? I think Decathlete would play great with this VOIP setup.

Re: Voip setup
Bomberman has like a split second hitch every second or so. It's a very regular pattern so you get used to it. It's definitely playable.

Care to share some info? Secrets don't make friends and cryptic posts with nothing to back it up are worthless

Re: Voip setup
The best bet for using the netlink with VoIP is using hardware and protocols that keep things synchronized. ISDN over IP is designed to make sure that the and far end devices are in synch and nothing arrives out of order (as things can do in a TCP/IP environment). Of course this hardware is not chea...

I put this together with the Dreamcast in mind, but it can be used with the Saturn as well.

Re: I think I found a way to send email over netlink...
I have also just confirmed that you can use this method as an internet mail server if you have broadband and can still connect your Netlink Via traditional dial-up.

Re: I think I found a way to send email over netlink...
I'll work on a tutorial. The reason i mentioned the Save Game manager is because it will let you compress the large ghost files, move them onto the system memory and then email them. The recipient would then have to decompress them. It might be a little out of some people's comfort zone but if there...

Success!
I was just able to send an email (with a save attached) to my gmail account and then retrieve the email from gmail to the Saturn with the save file intact and downloadable.

Sending/receiving email over Netlink is possible
Update: I believe I can get this to work with the netlink. The planetweb browser requires mail to be sent using a non-encrypted SMTP mail server. Virtually every SMTP server out there now uses encryption which is why we can't send mail directly. I stated above that I was running my own free mail ser...

Re: I think I found a way to send email over netlink...
I was playing around with sending mail on the Saturn, but in a little different way. I had my Saturn dial in to my computer (PC-DC server style) and I setup "Cmail" a LAN email server to act as an unencrypted mail server. I was able to successfully email game saves to myself, but I had tro...
