I think i wanna buy a Dreamcast.
But i need a modchip too.
Does anyone know a good Modchip-Installation Manual/FAQ?
What do you think would be good to buy with the dreamcast? Must haves? Broadband-adapter?
I modded my Saturn by myself and i just saw those easy 4-pin modchips available for the DC...
I hope its not against the Rules to talk about a modchip.
If its against the rules please delete my post.

OK, well first of all a modchip for the Dreamcast is of very limited use as you can run copies and imports without a chip..you can actually run copies straight from the console as standard, its that easy.....good for us now but part of the reason it died
As for imports, it's very easy to use a boot disc, there are many different types about so basically the only reason to install a mod chip is if you cannot be bothered to use a boot disc to load imports, other than that it has no use at all. The mod chip is fairly easy to install (installed one myself as I got sick of the book disc ) however and if you buy a chip instructions will probably come with it...only 4 wires.
Must haves for the Dreamcast...well thats a long list
Only go with a broadband adapter if you plan to play a lot of Quake 3 arena, Phantasy Star online or both...thats all the BBA supports game wise and with BBA's being so expensive to get hold of it may not be worth your while.
Must have games:
Shenmue
Shenmue 2
Ecco the Dolphin
Phantasy Star online V2
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Skies of Arcadia
Thats just a few, there are loads of great games
As for anything else...well get a 56k modem if you plan on doing any serious online gaming...PAL DC's only have 33k modems.
Other than that it's up to your personal taste...happy hunting

OK, i see.
I will first try the Utopia Boot Disk. Seems good.
Yes i know the Problems Sega had because of the Pirated Copies...
But the Saturn sold as much system like the Dreamcast and didnt had those Problems...
I just found a nice List of Dreamcast must haves:
http://www.planetdreamcast.com/games/best/
I´m not a typical RPG Player... I´m enjoying Arcade/Beat´m Ups too. It will be great to Play Street Fighter III on my TV.
I´ve read about using a DSL Connection with the Dreamcast (i think it got routed with a PC)...
